1.FINANCE MANAGER

THE JOB

The Finance Manager is part of Senior Management of the University and plays a key role in the financial management of the University’s resources.

Reports To:  Vice Chancellor

Duties and Responsibilities:

  1. Managing the University’s cash-flows, debtors, creditors and insurance portfolio
  2. Controlling and reporting on the following:
·         Income generation projects funds;
·         Donor and Specific Projects

  1. Timely preparation of monthly management Accounts
  2. Timely preparation of quarterly and year-end financial statements
  3. Providing professional advice to relevant University Committees on Income Generation
  4. Management of University Assets
  5. Cash-flow and treasury management
  6. Preparation of annual and three year rolling budgets in line with the strategic plan
  7. Budgetary Control and production of variance reports
  8. Servicing the Finance, Budget, Planning and Investment Committees as well as the Research Board
  9. Management of Procurement function of the University
  10. Provision of advisory role on financial issues to the University and its departments

Qualifications and skills

A Masters Degree in Accounting and/or Finance and a fully completed professional qualification such as CA, CIS, CIMA and ACCA. Active membership to a Professional Body and knowledge of Pastel Evolution is a must.

Experience:
At least five years’ relevant post qualification experience preferably in University Financial Accounting System.

2. MARKETING AND PUBLIC RELATIONS MANAGER POST
THE JOB
The Marketing and Public Relations Manager is responsible for developing and implementing marketing and public relations strategies designed to enhance the university’s image, visibility and goodwill, thereby attracting increased student enrolment, funding and public/private sector support.
Reports to      :           Vice Chancellor
Duties and Responsibilities:
1.   Developing, implementing, monitoring and evaluating the University Marketing Strategy.
2.   Designing, implementing and reviewing marketing policies and procedures of the   university.
3.   Conceptualising and overseeing the production and deployment of promotional materials.
4.   Initiating and implementing direct outreach efforts to potential students in collaboration with faculties and relevant departments.
5.   Preparing and monitoring the marketing and public relations budget.
6.   Conducting market research and analysis to improve the university’s marketing efforts.
7.   Developing and implementing strategies for disseminating appropriate information and publicity to key stakeholders.
8.   Effectively managing the human resources of the department.
9.   Contributing towards the strategic goal of financial sustainability of the university.
Qualifications and skills
The incumbent must
  • at least be the holder of a Master’s degree in Marketing or an IMM degree at Master’s level.
  • possess proven record in working successfully with diverse populations and cultures.
  • demonstratethorough understanding of the application of technology in achieving the strategic and operational goals of the Marketing and Public Relations Department.
  • have strong interpersonal, oral and written communication skills.
  • be a team player.
Experience

  • The incumbent must have at least five years’ experience at Senior Management level. Proven marketing experience in a university will be an added advantage.
