Bachelor of Laws (LLB) Honours Degree

The Faculty of Law offers a five-year full time undergraduate degree program which is designed to produce competent lawyers with integrity and skill, and practitioners for private and public practice, commerce and industry, international institutions, teaching institutions and other legal fields.


It offers unique and modern optional courses like Cyber and Internet Law, Medical Law, Medical Law and Forensic Medicine, Indigenization and Economic Empowerment Law, Sports and Recreation Law, Social Security Law to answer problems currently facing the global community.


CAREER PROSPECTS


The degree program is designed to produce students for, among other things, careers in private practice, the private, public, commercial, domestic and international sectors; NGO’s; teaching; politics; etc.  There is an abundance of career opportunities for law graduates and legal practitioners nationally and internationally.


ENTRY REQUIREMENTS


NORMAL ENTRY


At least five Ordinary Level passes or equivalent including a good pass in English Language with a grade B or better. Also the candidate must have at least three good ‘A’ Level passes preferably in Arts subjects or any subject combination deemed appropriate by the faculty board with a minimum of twelve (12) points but the faculty board reserves the right to review the minimum number of points from time to time based on the prevailing pass rate for a given year.


SPECIAL ENTRY


Applicants should have at least five ‘O’ Level passes or equivalent, including English Language with a grade B or better and any relevant Certificate or Diploma from a recognized institution.

In addition, the applicant shall be required to write and pass a test set by the Faculty of Law before admission.


MATURE ENTRY


Applicants should have suitable or relevant post-school experience and should satisfy the University and the Faculty of their ability to complete the degree.  In addition the applicant will be required to write and pass a test set by the Faculty of Law.
